Key Note - Jan Bowen-Nielsen, Leading Muti-Generation Teams

Jan is a renowned and award-winning executive coach, trainer, consultant, non-executive director and speaker. He has extensive experience in helping boards, senior executives and leadership teams develop and improve the performance of their organisations, their teams and themselves.

Before setting up his own consultancy 17 years ago, Jan had a successful senior management career with blue-chip companies in the UK, Denmark and USA, including CEO roles for an international US-based business and a European change consultancy.

In addition to running a team of 15 coaches in Quiver Management, Jan also enjoys running ultra-marathons and walking his dog in the beautiful Cotswolds where he lives.

Presenter, Dr Ann Rae, University of Edinburgh

As a primary teacher, I taught in mainstream classrooms for a number of years before focussing on teaching children with additional support for learning needs. I also taught Information and Communications Technology to children aged 7-11. I enjoyed these opportunities enormously as teaching children and young people was interesting and rewarding, and also required me to engage in professional learning to ensure I was equipped to meet their needs. As my knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning developed I was keen, too, to share my knowledge so supported my colleagues learning through both informal and organised learning events. These interests led me to write a Masters dissertation focussed on teachers understandings on professional learning in the context of Information Communication Technologies. As I enjoyed the challenge of investigating practice from a theoretical perspective, this led me to undertake a doctoral study exploring women primary teacher experiences and understandings on professional learning. I am now a teacher educator keen to develop better understandings of women as learners in the workplace. I am currently developing a project focussed on investigating experiences and understandings of learning and leadership across a number of professions.

Presenter, Chris Luty, CEO of Black Country Training Group

Chris is Executive Director of BCTG Limited, having been involved in the business since the inception of its predecessor company in 1993. Chris previously worked for a number of local and national Training Providers.

Over the last twenty five years, Chris has developed BCTG from a small local Provider into a one of the largest privately owned independent Training Providers in the UK.

Each year, BCTG works with over 1800 employers and trains in excess of 8000 young people and adults; offering Intermediate, Advanced and Higher Apprenticeships for young people and adults, Traineeships, 16-18 Study Programmes, Employability Training & Upskilling for Working Adults and Advanced Learner Loans.

Presenter, Andrew Pery - Consultant at ABBYY

Andrew Pery is a marketing executive with over 25 years of experience in the high technology sector focusing on content management and business process automation.

Andrew holds a Master of Law degree with Distinction from Northwestern University is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) and a Certified Information Professional (CIP/AIIM).

Presenter, Willi Ingles, former FD & CFO

Having worked in senior finance roles as FD and CFO for companies such as Mondelez (formerly Kraft), Kaplan and Account technologies Will Ingles has been a change maker and innovator in his roles, having overseen many digital transformation projects both locally and globally and come out the other side! He now gets a buzz in helping businesses to accelerate their financial development and shares his learnings from previous projects and watch outs so the project is a success.

Presenter, Maarten Laukens - Basware

Maarten Laukens worked as a Global Business Advisor for Basware, the global leader in Purchase-to-Pay solutions for the last 5 years. In this consulting role, he helped many organisations streamline P2P processes and ultimately gain more control over their finances. He has learned from failures and celebrated successes, has seen projects deliver but also collapse. As a father of two young kids, he knows what it is to juggle with too many balls.

Presenter, Simon Ashworth - Chief Policy Officer at AELP

Simon is currently Chief Policy Officer for the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP). Formed nearly 20 years ago, AELP is a national trade association, representing the interest of 950+ organisations delivering vocational learning, sustainable employment and employability support. Last academic year AELP members delivered 2 in every 3 of England’s apprenticeships.

Simon represents AELP on the following external groups/panels: Institute for Apprenticeships Stakeholder Reference Panel, Education and Skills Funding Agency Provider Reference Group and Ofquals Vocational & Technical Qualifications Reference Group. Simon is also a member of the Greater London Authority’s Outcomes for Londoners Advisory Group and a member of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Skills Commission.

Presenter, Dean Bennett, Management and Project Management Educator at ACAPP

Dean has nearly 40 years of business experience. In the corporate world he has worked across a range of areas including strategy, management and leadership, training and development, projects, product management, marketing and operations. He has also worked in academia, as a lecturer, project manager and academic head. In the past 15 years as a freelance learning and development consultant working with major corporate, small business and university clients, Dean has delivered events in the UK, Europe, USA, Hong Kong and China. Lately, he has been involved in delivering and assessing apprenticeship development programmes in management and project management. Dean has an MA in Management Practice, an MSc in Mindfulness and Compassion and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
